ARCHITECTURAL PRACTICE 'NETS' NEW OFFICES IN EAST COAST

Leading architectural Practice Lawrence McPherson Associates has launched its first East Coast office in a historic Victorian mill building in Musselburgh.

The Practice, which is headquartered in a former Salvation Army Citadel in Ayr, is expanding to Eskmills to meet growing demand for its services in the Lothian area.

The new office is being headed up by Scott Allan, who was formerly with Keppie Design and Cooper Cromar. He was also design director for an independent housebuilder.

Euan Lawrence, Partner, said: "It is great to have someone with Scott's impressive track record and knowledge of Edinburgh and the surrounding area to head up our new office."

Scott (35), who lives locally, added: "There's lots going on both in the Edinburgh commercial and residential property markets with the development of the Leith Docks, Granton and Newbridge areas and I am sure that we will be kept very busy with our existing and projected workloads.

"Our new office is in a fantastic location at Eskmills, which was once used to manufacture cotton fishing nets for export around the world, and is now a thriving business centre.  It is a great base for our new operation as it is only a short drive from the city centre."

Founded in 1994, Lawrence McPherson Associates has grown significantly in recent years with an existing staff of 17 people in their Ayr office. The Practice is the biggest architectural and town planning Practice in Ayrshire and has grown by almost 50% over the past four years.

Current projects include numerous hotel and restaurant developments throughout Scotland, the masterplan for the new Irvine Community Hospital, several large housing developments throughout Central Scotland for both national housebuilder and housing associations, together with other healthcare projects.

The opening of the East Coast office will assist in the delivery of these new projects and marks an important step forward in the growth of the Practice, which is looking to recruit additional professional and technical staff members in the months ahead.
